Good leaders are always quick to recognize superior performance of their people, but many fail to get the full mileage from it.

Next time you recognize someone for the job they do, ask them to share with the entire organization how they did it. This simple move will now allow everyone to learn from the success.

When we create an environment where peers are learning from each other, we create a team that operates more efficiently. People begin to think about how they can share what they know. The person who does the sharing feels more valuable to the team they’re on, and the people receiving the knowledge tend to be more accepting because it’s from one of their peers.

Make it a habit each week to recognize an employee and then turn it into a learning event for everyone. Once the organization sees it as a regular event, you’ll be amazed at how the entire team responds and, more importantly, the result it creates.
