The Winter Olympics are now underway and each of the athletes share more than a few things in common, but one major item is each one is willing to be held accountable by someone else.

It might be a coach, trainer or a person with another role, but the fact is nobody gets to the Olympics without a willingness to be held accountable.

In your role as a sales leader, who is holding you accountable and who do you help hold accountable?  I can’t stress this enough.  If you’ve followed me, you know I have people in my life, both personal and professional, who hold me accountable.

There is little chance I would have been able to achieve the success I’ve had without these people in my life.

Success is not something that seeks you out. You have to go get it, and that starts with pushing yourself in ways that go beyond the norm.  Olympic athletes didn’t get there by merely doing the norm.

You might be thinking, “What’s wrong with the norm?” Well, if you’re willing to settle for the norm, the truth is you will wind up achieving even less.  I say this because without being pushed, it’s only natural for us to rationalize away why we didn’t achieve something.

Who’s pushing you?  Who’s holding you accountable? If you don’t have someone, you need to find one.

Sales is not a solo activity. It’s a team sport, no different than the Olympics.  If you want to be seen as a sales leader, then you have to act like one and it starts with somebody holding you accountable.

If you’re serious about this, drop me a line or call me. Let’s talk, and I’ll share with you more ideas on upping your game through accountability.
