    Why we created the sales process tool in the first place

    Early in our efforts to bring Membrain to more organizations, we saw that the lack of effective process was a major stumbling block to using our solution and realizing its benefits. So we created our sales process tool to help leaders create a process that is more than just stages in a traditional CRM.

    Originally built in Excel, the tool enabled leaders and their teams to get a close look at their process at the granular level. To build milestones within stages, and steps to achieve each milestone. This helped them to create a framework within which to build a sales process that can be operationalized.

    Many of our sales training and consulting partners use this tool to help their clients visualize and build their sales process. Others use it to do the same within their own organizations.

    However, the Excel format of the tool has some limitations.

    The limitations of Excel for sales process planning

    Excel is a powerful product, but it can be clunky to use for process planning. Sending Excel documents back and forth for collaboration creates version control issues. The format of an Excel document can also introduce errors that can be hard to track down and fix.

    Additionally, once the process is created, it then has to be imported manually, piece by piece, into the Membrain software, in order to become fully actionable and executable.

    We wanted to address the shortcomings of the Excel sales planning tool while keeping everything that our users love about it. And that’s exactly what we’ve done with our new web-based, interactive sales process planning tool.
