Any company can brag about its products and services to grab customers’ attention. But there’s a fine line between being “hip” and obnoxious. If you’re too loud and gregarious, you’ll fall into the latter category, only to deflate business, and that’s not good.

Most of us continually receive messaging similar to, “I build the following apps (see the list), let me know which one you need, and I’ll take care of it for you.” The following message says I haven’t heard back from you; which app do you want?’ Finally, the last note will say, ‘it’s rude that you do not respond, and this is my last!’ It’s also likely that we block future messaging from the sender along the way. And eventually, the person will either lose their job or entrepreneurship to seek new work.

Combining sales, marketing, and branding elements is the better strategy. The first phase is to understand your intended clientele’s needs, wants, and desires. Familiarity enables you to communicate well with your audience. The suggestions below provide communication tips that will increase interest in your offerings.

Add An Element Of Surprise

When you do something that customers don’t expect, it makes them stop and think for a while. They’re often taken aback by your approach and need some time to process what it means. Are your deals honestly as good as they seem, they will ask?  

Research shows that the element of surprise is incredibly effective. People are more likely to stop and interact with something that jolts their expectations than with something they know and like.   

Add Questions 

Questions are the ultimate engagement tool, especially when they catch attention and arouse interest. Asking your audience questions is another great way to provoke thought among them and promote your brand simultaneously. When you adopt this tactic, customers are far more likely to pause instead of just rushing about their day. 

Before you ask questions, ensure that they relate to something of interest to your audience. For instance, you might ask, “What new options should you seriously consider before purchasing a new car?” or “Who’s fighting to save freedom now?” 

Use More Negatives to Increase Interest and Ultimately Clientele

Adding superlatives such as “best,” “biggest,” and “brightest” are well-known as an effective way to grab customers’ attention. However, sometimes you’ll want to use negative superlatives as well, such as “worst” or “ugliest.” 

Using negatives gets your audience to stop and think, usually because you hint that they might be doing something wrong. They don’t want to miss out, so they actively consume your content to ensure that they are not making a blunder.  

Use More How-Tos

How you deliver messages has an underlying tone of its own.

Using how-to’s is one of the most prominent digital marketing trends of all time. You can now type in how to do just about anything on Google and instantly receive helpful answers in your direction.  

Yes, how-to posts seem a little generic, but users want them. They offer valuable practical advice they can apply in their lives.  

Refer To Your Audience As “You”

When marketing to your audience, you also want to make it as personal as possible. You can do this just by using the word “you.”  

Don’t talk in the hypothetical third person, using words such as “they” or “one.” Instead, always be direct, so the reader feels like you’re having a genuine conversation with them.  

Be More Specific

Last, be specific in the way that you grab customers’ attention. Generic blog posts and cookie-cutter advertising copy will never generate much impact. Instead, it is best to speak to a specific niche. It is the way to begin to increase interest and ultimately clientele. For example, read the following sentence:

“iPhones coming with new biometric sensors that can tell whom you are just by looking at you,”  

The one-sentence targets new technology that will be of great interest to a specific audience and models how to rethink future communications.
