Having effective tools to generate leads can completely revolutionize your business…

Generating leads:

  • Maintains a steady stream of traffic
  • Keeps your sales team winning
  • Skyrockets your revenue

The problem is that most small businesses don’t know how to fill their pipelines with new leads…

What if I told you there were tools to generate so many leads you wouldn’t know what to do with them?

I know because I have made use of them myself over my 40 years as an entrepreneur.

And in this article, I am going to reveal all the lead gen hacks I used to build multiple successful businesses

What Is a Lead in Business?

For our purposes, I am going to define the term “lead” in the two ways it applies to business owners and salespeople.

Business or sales lead

Noun

     1. Person who may be interested in a product or service.

     2. Data that leads to the identification of such a person.

Essentially, leads are the breadcrumbs you need to follow to make more sales. Depending on your industry, “lead” is used interchangeably with the word “prospect.”

Nevertheless, there is a clear distinction between lead generation and prospecting.

With leads, you have no idea if this person will ever become a client.

In contrast, prospects are already qualified leads who would benefit from doing business with you.

This brings us to the next point — why tools to generate leads are so critical to your bottom line…

Why Is Lead Generation So Important for Business Owners?

Every sale you will ever make begins with a lead.

You have to constantly gather leads to have a chance of turning them into prospects and ultimately customers

People will only buy if they:

  • Know who you are
  • Like and trust you
  • Want what you’re offering

This means that step one is to cast a wide net to get the qualified prospects you’re looking to sell to.

But how do you get on your target audience’s radar?

My Top 5 Tools to Generate Leads

As we go through these five tools to generate leads, I want you to do a few things….

Keep an open mind…

Don’t get overwhelmed…

And have the goal of utilizing all these approaches

At first, some of these methods might seem intimidating. Alternatively, your business may not have the wherewithal to implement them yet.

All that’s okay.

Nonetheless, you need to be aware of what these tools are and how they work. Then, you can make use of them when the time is right

With that, let’s dive in…

1. Social Posts

Everyone should be using social media posts to generate leads. Everyone. Posts are both easy to make and effective.

And better yet, social media posts are free promotion.

Earlier, I mentioned the criteria that an individual needs to buy anything…

Knowing, liking, and trusting you, in addition to wanting your product.

Social posts are a great way to show who you are so your target customers can get to know your company’s core values. People start to put a face to your business. So when they come in as leads, they already feel more comfortable and familiar with you.

PEOPLE DON’T BUY FROM COMPANIES. PEOPLE BUY FROM PEOPLE.

For this reason, you should post a variety of content on social media. Alongside posts that are exclusively about your business, you should also incorporate:

  • Humor — as long as it is not political or off-color
  • Value — free information that you can provide as an expert
  • Quotes — relevant tidbits from either famous thought leaders or yourself
  • Statistics and success stories — social proof of the efficacy of your products

Producing leads through social media is par for the course in today’s market. The digital age has given us further reach to more people, which brings us to our next tool…

2. Email Marketing

You may be surprised to find out that email marketing tools remain one of the best methods to reach potential clients

In contrast to social media posts, email campaigns are meant to convey a specific message to the individual reading them — which is why they work so well.

Writing great email copy is an entire science in and of itself. However, I’m going to give you a few pointers to keep in mind when composing your own or having someone do it for you.

First, you want to have attention-grabbing, standout subject lines

Remember, people sometimes receive hundreds of emails a day. Yours has to interest them enough to open it — especially if it’s a cold email. Otherwise, it won’t matter how good the writing inside is…

My second tip for your email list is to have a wide variety of sales angles for all of your offers. Customers have a variety of reasons for buying the same product. Therefore, you should have separate emails prepared for each of them to increase your conversion rate.

If you’re feeling stuck, the exercise in my Product Presentation article can help you find new sales angles to use.

My last tip may be the most important of all…

Add a strong call to action (CTA) in your email, and sprinkle it in multiple times.

Let’s be honest. Not every person is going to read to the bottom. You want to give them several opportunities to interact with you.

In fact, you can use the following tool in tandem with email CTAs to really open up the lead floodgates…

3. Lead Magnets

In terms of generating leads, lead magnets are more than useful tools — they are lethal weapons.

In general, a lead magnet works like this…

You offer a free long-term resource — such as a booklet, checklist, etc. — in exchange for someone’s contact information.

Besides gathering names, addresses, and phone numbers, lead magnets have a second powerful benefit…

LEAD MAGNETS EDUCATE THE POTENTIAL BUYER AND PREPARE THEM FOR THE SALE.

However, there is a nuance critical to its success. After you provide your insights, value, and strategies, leave a cliffhanger

There is more to learn…

And where can they get this missing info?

By setting up an appointment or sales call with your company, of course.

Lead Magnet

Using lead magnets to collect contacts and warm them into prospects is a killer move, but there is nothing wrong with wanting to go old school either…

4. Ads

When the average person thinks of marketing, chances are they think of advertisements. In fact, printed ads go all the way back to 15th-century England

While how we compose and share ads has changed since then, the concept still remains relevant…

Today, there are two main categories of ads – images and videos.

The basic principles of both are the same:

  • Disrupt people from what they are doing
  • Create interest
  • Call to action

Moreover, you should build multiple advertisements with a variety of sales angles…

CUSTOMERS BUY THE SAME PRODUCT FOR DIFFERENT REASONS.

Designing and filming these promotional pieces have entire occupations dedicated to their development. But you don’t necessarily have to have a specialist to get started.

You can find high-quality templates online that are both affordable and user-friendly to get the needle moving.

Until now, the tools I have given you are strong methods on their own. However, they are all a part of a bigger strategy, that when it works, will feed you quality leads while you sleep…

5. Funnels

The last tool we are going to talk about is the cornerstone of modern-day marketing — funnels. In addition to generating leads for your business, a sales funnel is where leads convert into customers.

Funnel pages are so named because they force the lead to act in a way that pushes them further into the sales cycle…

IMPORTANT TO NOTE HERE IS THESE PAGES ARE NOT YOUR COMPANY WEBSITE.

Funnels are intuitive, one-off landing pages that are specifically designed to do one of three things:

  • Lead capture
  • Sell one offer
  • Book sales calls

For example, there can be a funnel dedicated to collecting names and addresses to send a free book so you can later call on them…

Another could have a short explanatory video saying you do roof consulting for free and to book an appointment

There is a little backstage technology you need to connect to make these sales tools operate smoothly. ClickFunnels is one of the most popular and easiest lead generation software tools to accomplish this; it’s the one my team and I use.

In summary, these are the best lead generation tools. But since I’m a giving guy, I’ll hand you a few more tips…
