Hsieh joined online shoe and clothing company Zappos in 1999 as an adviser and investor, later becoming CEO and growing the retailer to an over $1 billion valuation. Prior to that, he co-founded the advertising network LinkExchange, which was purchased by Microsoft when Hsieh was only 24.
