One year after Morgan became the first licensed woman architect in California, Mills College hired her to build a 72-foot bell tower called El Campanil. Suddenly, reinforced concrete (and the woman who’d used it to build a bell tower) were in high demand, and companies like the Fairmont Hotel hired Morgan to build their new structures.
